The need to reduce our individual emissions

Climate change is caused by our emissions, which are created by our use of product and services, basically our lifestyle. We struggle to get this under control: in our society, it is impossible to consume so little as to emit only what would be sustainable for the planet. A sustainable level is 2t of CO2e per person, but the average emissions in most developed markets are already close to 10t or above!

We are not on track to meet the temperature increase targets set by Governmental and International bodies (in 2023 we already overshot the +1.5 degree target).

Trusting corporates and government entities to deliver it is not realistic. It is therefore our personal responsibility to act NOW.

The challenge for private clients

Getting useful actionable information remains a challenge, especially for private clients. First, most calculators require detailed information that is hard or cumbersome to provide (access to utility bills, details of flight used, mileage driven...). Even if such individuals dedicate the time and effort to understand their carbon footprint, the usual reduction initiatives tend to not apply to them. For example, replacing flights with trains works very well in Europe, especially when using high-speed trains which offer a higher level of comfort that most intraeuropean flights, but is not possible if you live mostly in Asia ex-Japan or in North America; using renewable energy for transport or home utilities in developed markets is quite straightforward but in most developing markets, there are no providers of renewable energy and transport requires using petrol cars.

We have designed simple tools to achieve this. Please contact us to get access to these free science-backed materials.

Emissions grow exponentially with wealth: the top 10% of households roughly emit through their consumption 50% of the world's emissions.

This presents a massive opportunity: a small reduction in the carbon footprint of an affluent or hight-net-worth family delivers a large impact.

Most of our clients can achieve a reduction equivalent to several individual average households emissions through simple changes in their habits that will have a minimal impact on their lifestyle.
